COMMUNICATION.
American business guru, Dr Margaret Wheatley travelled business class at public expense to appear at a council seminar.

June 22nd 2007
Dr Wheatley spoke of the need to include the public in decisions as part of an effort to become more responsive. She said “A healthy community focuses on what is possible, rather than what’s wrong. It knows not to exclude the poor. It always includes more and more people. They don’t just settle on just a few people taking decisions. It’s constantly expanding”.
CLLRS REPLYING TO LETTERS WOULD BE A GOOD FIRST STEP...

Cllr Andy Freeman.
Said “ She was effectively advising real engagement with the electorate, a more collaborative approach. It wasn’t rocket science at the end of the day, but it was useful.” If her advice is taken up by officers members and our partners and we work with communities to get more for less over the next ten, 20 years then it was money well spent—but that is a big if”
WHAT A JOKE!

Cllr Pat Lally.
Said “the seminar suggested the authority was moving in the right direction. He said “She made some very good points about drawing on communities, there is a great untapped resource there”

Asked whether he thought it was value for money. Cllr Lally added, “It was value going along because it will lead to discussions further down the line”
WHEN EXACTLY?

Tory councillors refused to go to Dr Margaret Wheatley’s workshop, after finding it would cost the authority up to £19,500.
